She is beautiful-“Natural ingenuity, instinct for what is elegant, a supple mind are their sole hierarchy, and often make of women of the people the equals of the very greatest ladies.” To be honest, I didn’t think there were any wrongdoings by Mathilde Loisel, the main character of this short story, who is widely recognised as “vanity”. ![]() I read “The Necklace” when I was about 12. “The Necklace” is one of Guy de Maupassant’s famous short stories. ![]()
